why is my yellow rose bush flowering white?

I have had a rose bush in my garden for years.
It is a golden wedding type and flowers the nicest yellow roses.
Why all of a sudden has it flowered with pure white rose type looking flowers but they arent as big as they used to be and the bush isnt doing very much.
what have i done wrong and how can i get it back to flowering the big yellow roses again?

Sounds like Reynwate is on the right track. Roses just about top the list of plants that have been genetically manipulated. Often a plant will be a cross between two parent plants. Without boring you with the details, where roses are concerned sometimes one parent was the plant and the other was the root system. This will occur when you buy a “rose tree”. I was in the landscaping business for over 15 years. That was a few years ago though, so i will admit the details of rose parentage are getting a bit fuzzy. But I am fairly confidant that a dormant part of the rose has now taken over. Like if it was originally a tree rose, the yellow rose they grafted onto the rootstock was ultimately the weaker of the two and has gone t*ts up. But the original and tougher root stock has sent up new growth and replaced it. Consider yourself lucky it is still alive at all and just go out and buy another yellow rose. One a bit less hybridized and tougher.
