Austrian Economics $42.95 First published in 1986, this book presents a reissue of the first detailed confrontation between the Austrian school of economics and Austrian philosophy, especially the philosophy of the Brentano school. It contains a study of the roots of Austrian economics in the liberal political theory of the nineteenth-century Hapsburg empire, and a study of the relations between the general theory of value underlying Austrian economics and the new economic approach to human behaviour propounded by Gary Becker and others in Chicago. In addition, it considers the connections between Austrian methodology and contemporary debates in the philosophy of the social sciences. |

Austrian Nobility $138.61 Historically, the Austrian nobility was a privileged social class in Austria. The nobility was officially abolished in 1919 after the fall of the AustroHungarian Empire. Former noble families and their descendants are still a part of Austrian society today, but they no longer retain any specific privileges. Austrias system of nobility is very similar to Germanys system, as both countries were previously part of the Holy Roman Empire. Modern Applications of Austrian Thought $185 Austrian economics is often criticized as being hostile to empirical research and seen purely as an ideology. In contrast, this book shows that Austrian economics provides an interesting approach to most conceivable subjects in economics. |

Austrian Wine $78.07 Austrian wines are mostly dry white wines (often made from the Grner Veltliner grape) with some luscious dessert wines made around the Neusiedler See. About 30 of the wines are red, made from Blaufrnkisch (also known as Lemberger, or as Kkfrankos in neighbouring Hungary), Pinot Noir and locally bred varieties such as Zweigelt. 4000 years of winemaking history counted for little after the antifreeze scandal of 1985, when it was revealed that some wine brokers had been adulterating their wines with diethylene glycol. The scandal destroyed the market for Austrian wine, but in the long term has been a force for good, compelling Austria to tackle low standards of bulk wine production, and reposition herself as a producer of quality wines that stand comparison with the best in the world. The country is also home to Riedel, makers of some of the most expensive wine glasses in the world.
