Fungus that triggers this kind of skin infection thrives and breeds in places that are usually wet.  Thus, these spaces are the most common location to be contaminated with nail fungus infection. A moderate discomfort can be felt throughout the first stage of the infection.

It can be transmitted by means of person – to – person contact. These are by way of sharing personal belongings such as towels, shoes and socks. People who are very predisposed to develop this form of disease are athletes and varsity players. Wearing shoes (or rubber shoes) and socks for a long time can trigger nail fungus too since the fungus loves soggy and warm environment. Also, those who are not familiar to drying their feet well after taking a bath can also get this form of infection.

Symptoms and Home Cures for Nail Fungus

Nail fungal infection can commence as a blemish with a whitish or yellowish color under the tip or the fingernail or toenail.  As the infection develops, the nail will stiffen and can become fragile. The fungus will also possibly spread from all over the body. The nails will also develop a nasty smelling odor. The infested nail will eventually fall or shed off.

Nail fungus infection can be treated in numerous different ways such as home remedies, medical treatments and surgeries. There are so several ways to manage nail fungal infection at home that are economical and active. You can choose any of the following:

1. Tea Tree oil – Tea tree oil is established to be a very actual disinfectant. Prior to applying tea tree oil, wash the area first and pat it dry. You can dab a few drops on the affected area to cleanse and sterilize the area. Leave for ten to fifteen minutes. Do this repeatedly for weeks.

2. Warm water and Apple Cider Vinegar – Soak your nail for a total of 15 – 20 minutes in basin with lukewarm water and natural apple cider vinegar mixed in equal amount. After this, dry your toenails properly. You can use a blower to dry effectively. Apple cider vinegar is a very mild type of acid which is exemplary for nail fungus hindrance.

3. Oregano and Olive oil – Add together a teaspoon of olive oil and two drops of oregano oil. Put this combination on the affected area daily. Practice the procedure for two weeks only. Oregano essential oil is known to have disinfectant, anti parasitical, antiviral, antibacterial, analgesic, and anti fungal properties. Olive oil will lock in moisture in nails and keep them healthy.

4. AHA Creams – Get AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) cream and lather them on the affected area before going to sleep. AHA is known to promote exfoliation of dead skin cells as follows reduces the risk of fungus from growing in your rough skin.

Keep in mind that people who have very poor personal hygiene and weak immune system are unprotected to have nail fungus infection.  Because prevention is always better than cure, check to carry on a healthy diet, balanced lifestyle as well as good hygiene practices.
