Jacob Arabo Is the “King of Bling”
What is it that makes Jacob Arabo the “king of Bling”? It could be his skill to put in diamonds to every possible thing or his association with some of the greatest names in Hip Hop culture. In the initial years of his business, Jacob Arabo ran an ordinary jewelry firm, selling mid-priced diamond engagement rings and the like. Until, that is, the early 1990s rolled around and he started designing pieces for top name hip hop models. Both Biggie and Tupac were some of his earlier clients and well as Diddy who he is still close with.
With the significant growth of his name and brand Jacob the Jeweler became more creative. He has added diamonds on everything from watches, gold ropes, and Jesus pendants to sneakers and blackberry cases. His name has appeared in many well known raps and his image is used in the video game Def Jam: Fight for NY, in which 3D hip-hop thugs compete to earn cash, which they can use to buy jewels from Arabo.
Over the past several months, Jacob the Jeweler made appearances at a couple of well-attended, New York area events. Notably, his namesake company, Jacob & Co., donated the Champion’s watch for the Wall Street Warfighters’ Charity Poker Tournament. He was also spotted holding court at the opening for Dash—the Kardahians’ new store in Soho.
A Brief about Jacob “The Jeweler” Arabo
A born entrepreneur, Jacob Arabo immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan when he was 14. Certain of his passion, Arabo entered into the competitive jewelry business at a young age. Jacob’s natural abilities and dedication took him far, and by the late 1990′s, his was one of the most recognizable names in the jewelry business.
Arabo has long been the preferred jeweler of the hip hop community. In 1999, Jay-Z was the first artist to give Jacob & Co. a shout-out on the single, “Girl’s Best Friend”. Since then, Arabo has been mentioned in over 70 songs; the trend shows no sign of stopping. Bono, Sir Elton John, David Beckham and Rudy Giuliani are known to own Jacob & Co. pieces, as well.
