sterling silver or white gold?
I am having a hard time deciding which is better for me
I want a pair of stud earrings that I can wear everyday
do dishes, cook, shower etc.
I currently wear fake earrings meaning they turn my ears green
and am sick of it
also I saw some beautiful cz earrings…can cz be used in the pool?
please any suggestions would be nice!
Sterling silver or platinum is most recommended. Gold rubs off in time and white gold contains nickle as an alloy to give it the whiteish colour, therefore if when you wear base metal earrings that turn your ears green (which is from the copper by the way) you might be allergic to the nickle – and actually most people who have metal allergies are allergic to the nickle. Sterling silver and platinum are hypo allergenic, but it is good to know that sterling silver too contains some alloys such as copper.
Having said that, if you wish to maintain the luster of your jewellery its recommended you take care of it. This means yes, removing before showering, working out etc. I know, you want it specifically for that, and you can definitely wear them while performing any one of these activities however be aware that it will tarnish faster. You can clean it of course, but it’s more work for you. As for the pool, i would not recommend wearing any jewellery, except maybe for platinum. Chlorine tends to be harsh on everything and it will slowly eat through your jewellery. If you are planning on spending money and ensuring your pieces last a long time, it would be best if you kept them out of the pool. CZ while it is a stone, will get cloudy if it’s exposed to too much water, chlorine & heat, and sometimes turn yellow. So be mindful, and plan accordingly if you purchase and wear these pieces.
